Indri - the largest of the remaining lemur species |
Indri have no tail but utter a haunting cry to communicate their whereabouts in the forest |
And now for the ring-tailed lemurs - one of my favourite species |
Especially this little guy who spent about 10 min with us |
More ringed tails... |
Cute tail huh?! |
Checking out those strange humans... |
Hi, I am a Milnes-Edwards' Sifaka lemur |
And now for my next trick! |
I entertained the crowds for about 20 minutes |
Verraux sifaka |
Diademe sifaka |
Common brown lemur |
Common brown lemur eating passionfruit |
Cocquerel's sifaka, showing the interesting toe formation of lemurs |
On Lemur Island we could get up close and personal with each other - me with a black and white ruffed lemur |
Aren't I cute??! |
And I do tricks for bananas! |
Happiness is... |
... wearing a brown lemur on each shoulder!! |
Chameleons abound in Madagascar as well |
From the very smallest ones... |
... to the largest, Oustelet's chameleon |
This is a male Oustelet's chameleon |
And a female |
A beautiful gum emperor moth |
And one of the many frogs we saw. |
Great photos and blog fiona
ReplyDeletePenny will be soooo jealous - she always wanted to get to Madagascar
Love to see more photos of lemurs, plants, insects, etc....
Have fun
Best wishes John and Penny
Serious?! If you cared about the wildlife you wouldn't be petting and feeding them. This is how animals are slowly damaged by ignorant tourists. Are you aware of how many of these animals there are left in the wild? Absolutely irresponsible and ignorant behaviour. PLEASE do your research and think again before contributing to the demise of beautiful creatures like these.
