The is the first lot of photos, with two more posts of photos below and the text in the post above...
| The tour kicked off in the rainforest in the east of the country |
| The Traveller's Palms are really quite interesting with their 2D leaf arrangement |
| We then headed into the rockier, drier areas to the south and west |
| Had a fabulous hike through stunning landscapes in the Grand Canyon area |
| And the natural swimming pool at the top was very welcome! |
| Our hotel was carefully built to minimise its visual impact |
| And was set amongst amazing sandstone formations |
| I got excited about the lurid green lichens! |
| And the weird plants - this is a small Pachypodium |
| A bigger one in the hotel gardens |
| And a very big Pachypodium in the spiny desert reserve |
| Where we also saw baobab trees, hundreds of years old, and oyster plants, below... |
| Trouble was, the bus got stuck in sand on the way to the reserve and we had to push! |
| At least Frederic's 51 year old Peugeot was more reliable! |
| This one was proving a small boot is no barrier to a large load! |
| While in some places, pousse-pousse or rickshaws were the preferred means of transport |
| The locals were always keen to sell us souvenirs |
| And the kids were keen to be photographed! |
| Not everything is rosy though, with erosion a big problem |
| Team Geeks in Action! Lindsay (rugby rep from Oz), Robert the birder, me, Paul from Oz and Allan the dragon-fly man |
| You gotta love a good road sign! |
